naan....indian baked flat bread

Naan

Naan Recipe

Ingredients:-


4 cups refined flour

1 tspn Baking powder

2 teaspoons Sugar

1 1/2 cups Milk

2 tbspn Yogurt 2 tablespoons

2 tbspn Fresh coriander leaves( chopped)

2 tbspn Oil 2 tablespoons

6 tbspn Butter 6 tablespoons

Salt to taste

water as required



Method:-



Sieve flour with baking powder and salt.

Add sugar, milk, yogurt,chopped coriander leaves to the flour mixture and mix. Add water as required and Knead for 6 to 8 minutes on a lightly floured surface, or until smooth.

Place dough in a well oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and set aside for at least an hour, until the dough has doubled in volume.

Punch dough with your hands to make it soft and pliable.

Divide dough into twelve to sixteen equal portions, cover and let it rest for an hour more.

Now preheat oven to 250°C.

Melt butter. Flatten each dough ball between your palms, apply melted butter and dust with flour. Roll into a ball again and keep it covered for fifteen minutes.

Roll each dough ball on a floured surface into ur desired shape.

Cook in the preheated oven under the broiler for 10-12 minutes or until brown spots appear on the surface. Remove and serve hot drizzled with melted butter and your favorite curry.

Tip:-


If u eat egg then u can add it while kneading the dough.it will enhance the taste and dough will rise well also.

Masala Puri

Masala Puri


a spiced whole wheat flat bread..


Ingredients:-


3/4 cup wheat flour
1/4 cup gram flour(besan)
2 tbspn rava (suji)
1 tspn red chili powder
1/2 tspn cumin
1/2 tspn sounf
1/4 tspn ajwain
1/2 tspn turmeric
1/4 tspn hing
1/2 cup coriander and pudina leaves(cut finely)
salt to taste
1 tblspn oil
water as needed
oil for frying

Recipe:-


  • Mix all the ingredients (wheat flour, gram flour, rava , red chili powder, cumin, sounf , ajwain turmeric, hing, coriander and pudina leaves,salt and oil.
  • Make a soft dough using water.
  • Keep this dough in a tight container for 1/2 an hour.
  • Heat oil in a kadhai.
  • Make small balls of the dough.
  • Divide into small balls , and roll out into small puries on an oiled board
  • Fry the puri one at a time, holding them under the oil on the first side until they puff. Turn and fry till light brown.
  • Serve hot with chhole or dum aaloo or potato curry and raita
